Chapter 5817: Unexpected Arrival
"Do you like the feeling now?" Dragon Chen asked with a smile, looking at the excited expression on Huai Minjun's face.
"Of course, after countless years, we've finally returned home," Huai Minjun said, filled with excitement.
"This is what humans call emotion!" Dragon Chen gazed upon the boundless forest and added.
Huai Minjun was taken aback.
Dragon Chen continued, "Why are you so happy? Isn't reaching your destination supposed to be a matter of course?"
"Well..." Huai Minjun began, and then Dragon Chen chimed in, "It's because of the hardships, worries, fears, carrying the longing of countless ancestors for home, enduring countless difficulties; that's why you feel so relieved and excited now. If it were the past, you wouldn't have these emotions; you'd be numb and indifferent. Humans are complex, but everything is relative. For every negative aspect, there's a positive one, and for every evil, there's goodness. Without humans, you wouldn't have the seven emotions and six desires, joy, anger, sorrow, thought, love, hate, and fear. You wouldn't even shed tears."
Huai Minjun smiled, "I've never held any resentment against your human race."
"But as the clan leader, you should at least speak impartially for the human race," Dragon Chen said with a wry smile. The older generation of the Undying Dragon Hua Clan members didn't treat him, a human, very well. The younger disciples were more curious about him. If it weren't for Huai Minjun's protection, they would have stripped him naked to see if he truly looked the same as a human in his human form.
"Once we enter the Dragon Hua Forest, I'll speak up for you," Huai Minjun laughed. She reached out and held Dragon Chen's hand, leading him toward the Dragon Hua Forest.
However, when Dragon Chen felt her hand, it lacked the warmth of human touch; it had no fleshiness. It made him shudder, understanding why communication with them had been so challenging. They weren't truly human and couldn't grasp human emotions.
In contrast to Liusuoyan, although she appeared cold on the surface, her hand was warm, and being near her, Dragon Chen could sense the vitality in her. Perhaps different species' transformations into human forms were not all the same.
Or maybe the Tree Spirits differed from other mystical beings? Little Yun was also a beast, but even in human form, she felt distinct from true humans. Not to mention Huoling'er and Leiling'er, who had both cultivated a soul power that gave their hands a fleshly feel, unlike Huai Minjun.
"Hum."
When the group reached the outskirts of the Dragon Hua Forest, the boundless Dragon Hua trees quivered, creating a straight path. The golden light drizzled down from the trembling branches and leaves. Even Dragon Chen could feel the tremendous power of blessing.
This was the most grand welcoming ceremony of the Undying Dragon Hua Clan. Seeing this ancient ritual, the grand spectacle, and the emotional atmosphere, Huai Shu and others were moved to tears. The feeling of returning home was simply wonderful.
Giant ancient Dragon Hua trees opened up the sky and formed a shaded path, with golden rain showering down upon everyone, including Dragon Chen. This treatment surprised Dragon Chen, an outsider, who was receiving the expected courtesy from the Undying Dragon Hua Clan.
The golden rain washed over him, making Dragon Chen feel as if his soul was bathing in sunlight, leaving him relaxed and free from any pent-up frustration. Initially, Huai Minjun was concerned about Dragon Chen being shunned, which was why she had personally held his hand to confirm his status. However, the Dragon Hua Forest didn't seem to reject him, which filled her with joy.
"Travelers far from home, after all these years, you've worked hard. Children, welcome back home!" At that moment, an elderly and kind voice resonated from the end of the shaded path.
Hearing that voice, Dragon Chen immediately pictured a wise, kind, and benevolent face in his mind.
Suddenly, within the shaded path, the golden rain swiftly swirled, and the figures of the group dashed forward. Before long, they arrived beneath a colossal tree.
In the Dragon Hua Forest, each Dragon Hua tree reached heights of thousands of miles, but in front of this giant tree, the others appeared as slender as wild grass. This was a genuine colossal tree, its branches reaching into the starry skies as if it bore the fruits of the entire celestial cosmos.
The tree was covered in dragon-like bark, exuding a profound and boundless aura. Even Dragon Chen couldn't help but feel incredibly small in the presence of such an entity.
"This might be a being surpassing the post-God Emperor stage, right?" Dragon Chen's heart pounded as he saw this incredibly powerful being, an experience he had never encountered before.
The group was directly transported to the foot of the giant tree, where an elderly man with a wooden staff, dressed in white robes, white hair, and a benevolent smile, awaited them quietly. Behind him stood countless Undying Dragon Hua Clan members, their numbers stretching to fill Dragon Chen's entire field of vision. It was a scale that couldn't be quantified by numbers.
In comparison, the scale of the Purple Blood Clan was dwarfed by the multitude of powerful Undying Dragon Hua Clan members. However, considering the Undying Dragon Hua Clan's advantages of longevity and minimal energy consumption during hibernation, even late-stage God Emperors spent nearly the same amount of energy as Human God Kings. This gave the Undying Dragon Hua Clan a significant advantage, while the Purple Blood Clan, without weeding out the weak, would deplete their resources and eventually starve to death.
Initially, these people appeared joyful, but when they saw Dragon Chen walking hand in hand with Huai Minjun, their smiles froze instantly.
Seeing their expressions, the hearts of Huai Minjun and the others sank. Initially, they believed that the golden rain blessing implied acceptance of Dragon Chen. Now, they started to feel uneasy.
However, the elderly man kept a benevolent smile on his face and walked slowly toward Huai Minjun. She immediately knelt down and paid her respects. Huai Shu and the others followed suit, all kneeling and paying their respects. Only Dragon Chen remained standing there awkwardly, a stark contrast in the scene.
After helping Huai Minjun to her feet, the elderly man turned to Dragon Chen, placed his left hand over his chest, and bowed gracefully, saying, "The Undying Dragon Hua Clan welcomes you, honored friend of the Human race."
The gesture of the clan's elder stunned everyone.
